Histopathology
The histology laboratory offers a diagnostic service to research projects, private and public sectors. The team of Histopathologists, Medical Laboratory Scientists, Technologists and Technicians, with vast experience offers a diagnostic and consultative service on tissue samples including biopsies and resection specimens.
We offer a wide range of testing capabilities for histology and pathology services. Our scientists have expertise in sample processing with a wide range of stains including immunochemistry.
- General histology: Accessioning, tissue sample processing into FFPE, standard staining with Hematoxylin & Eosin
- Special stains: Including trichrome, silver stain, GMS/PAS, Congo red, AFS and other stains upon request
- Immunohistochemistry (IHC) stains: With a list of >100 validated markers. We also provide new marker stains upon specific request.
Our pathologists provide full slide interpretation and final diagnosis of routine, special and IHC slides and give final reports. There are subspecialty services given by them including:
- Hematopathology
- Renal pathology
- Dermatopathology
- Breast and Gynecological pathology
Cytopathology
Our cytology laboratory analyses both gynaecological and non-gynaecological cytology. Cytology is used to determine the nature of lesions and often to look for infections. It is mainly a screening tool to triage patients’ management.
The non-gynecological unit
The Non-Gynaecological Cytology Unit (NGCU) is a specialized unit dedicated to the morphological evaluation of cytological samples obtained by fine needle aspiration biopsy (FNAB) or by harvesting exfoliated cells or removed by abrasive techniques (washed, brushed, secretions).
- FNAB (Pathologist based or imaging assisted)
- Exfoliative cytology
- Urinary (urination or bladder wash)
- Pulmonary (washed or brushed bronchial)
- Effusions from body cavities (pleural fluid, Ascitic fluid, pericardial fluid, etc.)
- other effusions (CSF)
The gynecological unit
Gynecological cytology, also known as PAP test, involves observing a cervical sample under a microscope in order to screen for a cancer or lesion that may develop into cervical cancer.
Conventional PAP
Outpatient services
Our outpatient service is enagaged with providing patients with diagnostic procedures done by our experienced and renowed staff of Interventional radiologists, pathologists, clinical nurses and support staffs.
Our outpatient service have an agreement deal with known hospitals for emergency conditions (both ambulance and emergency services)
Services offered,
- Pathologist based FNA procedure
- Body cavity centesis (Pleural, abdominal)
- Bone marrow aspiration
- Bone marrow biopsy
- Image guided FNA
- Image guided Core needle biopsy
- Sampling for cervical screening
- Consultation services

Biopsy
A biopsy is the removal of tissue from any part of the body to examine it for disease. Some may remove a small tissue sample with a needle while others may surgically remove a suspicious nodule or lump.
FNAC
The term ‘FNAC Test’ stands for Fine Needle Aspiration Cytology.
FNAC Tests – normally safe, quick and relatively inexpensive procedures – are done to study and examine masses or lumps under the surface of the skin (such as in the head or neck), salivary glands, thyroid glands or other organs of the body. An FNAC Test is a Minor Surgical Procedure and considered quite safe and painless
Bone Marrow
Bone marrow aspiration and bone marrow biopsy can show whether your bone marrow is healthy and making normal amounts of blood cells. Doctors use these procedures to diagnose and monitor blood and marrow diseases, including some cancers, as well as fevers of unknown origin.
Cytology
A cytology test is used to look closely at cells and body fluids. It may be helpful if a patient has cancer symptoms or is due for a cancer screening.
There’s a wide range of cytology test procedures. A Pap smear, which collects cells around the cervix, is one example. Removing spinal fluid by a lumbar puncture can provide cells for a cytology test.
PAP
is a method of cervical screening used to detect potentially precancerous and cancerous processes in the cervix (opening of the uterus or womb) or colon (in both men and women). Abnormal findings are often followed up by more sensitive diagnostic procedures and, if warranted, interventions that aim to prevent progression to cervical cancer.
Peripheral Morphology
A blood smear, also referred to as a peripheral smear for morphology, is an important test for evaluating blood-related problems, such as those in red blood cells, white blood cells, or platelets. It has a wide range of uses, including distinguishing viral infections from bacterial infections, evaluating anemia, looking for causes of jaundice, and even diagnosing malaria.
IHC
Immunohistochemistry is a technique used to determine the presence and level of specific cellular proteins. IHC measures protein expression using specially labeled antibodies that can bind to the proteins of interest.
